Preservation Architect

Salary range: $34,000 - $36,000

Work Summary:
Serve as the preservation architect for historic properties for which the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is preservation steward. Serve as specialist on Trust preservation issues. Oversee Trust architectural archive.
Duties:
- Oversee Frank Lloyd Wright Trust historic properties, making recommendations for preservation projects, providing architectural plans and drawings as needed, participating in selection of contractors, preparing budgets, and supervising the execution and acceptance of work on site.
- Oversee Frank Lloyd Wright Trust architectural archives. Respond to inquiries about the architectural archives and occasionally meet with archive visitors or researchers.
- Consult with Trust Director of Facilities on maintenance issues that impact preservation of the sites, making recommendations as needed.
- Prepare annual World Heritage reports to the FLW Building Conservancy /National Park Service.
- Write narratives and assemble budgets for grants supporting preservation projects.
- Make presentations and/or provide information to civic preservation commissions as required.
- Occasional presentations to Trust members/ volunteers/ public on architecture and preservation topics.
- Conduct occasional architecture seminar/workshop with high school students.
- As a team member of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills that promote open communication and respect for all positions, maintain confidentiality and contribute to the organization’s success.
Qualifications:
Degreed architect licensed to practice in Illinois with completed projects of merit.
Health and Safety Requirements/Instruction:
Employees advised on OSHA standards through required signage and administrative updates compliant with federal and state law.
